Default Check Engine Light

Wife started the car and the check engine light came on. the car seems to be running fine. 3400 (s)miles. No problems.

manual says it could be the gas cap. we opened and closed it but light still on. the new cap has just 1/8 of a turn each way...no clicking like the older caps.

Called dealer service department. They said not to worry unless the car was running poorly or the CEL was flashing. they will check it out in 1600 miles at the first scheduled service at 5k miles.

has anyone else had this problem? will the computer CEL reset itself like it did on one of my other cars?

Phil, you can track down your local VCDS person and have them read the code(s) for you if this is a genuine concern.

Started the S4 today and the CEL went out.

Looks like it self corrected.
