Warning for snow/ice drivers.
Half way into my commute in this morning on poor icey roads the ESP automatically disabled itself. (Fail safe to keep brakes from overheating.) Just a reminder that it does not automatically re-enable itself. You have to stop and turn the car off and back on. Next time I'll surely stop as soon as it is safe and re-enable it.

This happened driving 20-30 mph on unplowed snow/ice covered highways for over an hour at 4am. It the amount of time esp kicks in over a certain period which causes the software algorithm to determine it needs to shut down esp to safeguard the brakes.
You're right though next time it would be best not to drive at all in that type of weather. Worst I've ever experienced in my lifetime.
