Meaning, do they do them in batches, so say for example all current order are due August 31st for Nov delivery. While the next batch won't be due until say Oct.31st for January delivery... Is that how it works and if so, anyone know when each batch is due?

I think it all depends on dealer allocations. If they have an allocation, it gets put in the system and given a slot to be built when ordered. If not, dealer will need to wait until he has an allotment to place the order. I do not think they are produced in batches. Cars with special order paint may be delayed until Audi decides to build special orders with optional paint. In the past , there have been problems getting all the parts necessary to build the Black optic packages, and they have either been unavailable to order or had longer than average delays.

I believe the delays in the black optics package previously usually occurred later in the model years. For example I ordered mine last year in early January and had no issues, but people in February were either waiting longer or getting turned away when they tried to order that package. So if you want that package, order it fairly soon if history is any kind of indicator.

I ordered my 2014 on one of the first days that dealers was taking orders in May. Black optic package was listed as an option but was unable to order at that time. I would not have ordered it even if it had been available.
