The downshift paddle is provided for use. It's on the left. Use it...or the car will downshift on its own as the car slows.

Dealers help protect consumers!

He probably meant you shouldn't use the transmission as a brake. Redlining every downshift would kill a DSG in 40k miles.

Our S4 has manual transmission. 2015 RS5 has dct which l assume is the same as the S4's. It downshifts on its own and much more aggressively in Sport mode.
In fact the downshifting that the car does on it's own is very similar if not identical what l do in Manual mode.

In a dct the next gear is already set so when you pull the paddle it's almost instantaneous. No real wear on the clutch. Unless you have a defective clutch the transmission should last for the life of the car.

Basically, the rep said the tiptronic is useless. I'm sure Audi would be surprised to hear that. Complete nonsense.
