May be downsizing to 18" setup and curious if any WTB in the Philly area -- will include the summer Contis (<10% remain)

Trying to gauge interest if the OEM replacement cost is ~$3300 per set (https://parts.audiusa.com/a/Audi_201...S/1399401.html) plus the matte black powder coating...

Would be asking $2500 for the set.

19"wheels with Conti DWS will get you where you need to go in Philly. Been running A/S tires on my 4 S4s since 04 here in the Lehigh Valley.

I'm not sure what direction you're going but your wheels are exactly what I'm looking for to put on my 2013! Currently, I have the 19" triple-spoke 5-star that was stock for MY 2013. I had them re-surfaced a few months ago so they are like new! I've seen replicas of your wheels on TireRack.com for less than $200 each in the 19" size. They may be a bit lighter gray color...

Are you interested in the 2013 wheels? The wheel below is what TireRack offers in 18 & 19...

Sorry -- they're 19" OEM on the Prestige Summer Wheel package. Was considering downsizing to 18" but the RS4 styled V708 VMR -- like the 19" look but think the 18"s will ride better and cheaper to replace tires... still on the fence, but peelers definitely not a consideration.

The A/S not the issue at play... it's whether I keep the 19" 5-arm or downsize to 18" V708/V710... tossled with the summer/winter sets but that's not happening now.

You are correct that the 18" will provide a "better" ride if softer/more supple is your intention but it won't be transformed to a ride comparable to the A-line or similar sized American cars. Look for tires that are not designed for heavier vehicles as they will have stiffer sidewalls and be careful with your air pressure... You should be able to improve your ride keeping 19" wheels - tires with a lower tread life rating ill be made of a softer rubber compound (but more frequent changes will interfere with your cheaper tire replacement goal). These differences are each very small and probably not perceptible by most, but our S suspensions are lower/stiffer than the As, allowing to feel more and perform better...
