GIAC or APR tuning
Tuning for the 1st time. 2012 S4, manual, sport diff. Upgrading suspension (new springs & swaybars), APR Tuning intake & touring exhaust. Tuning shop offers both GIAC and APR. Looks like both manufacturers offer option of handheld switcher allowing the user to cycle through up to four different engine calibrations and operating modes. I think GIAC costs $1195, APR is $1299 ($150 each for the switcher).
Key issues:
1) reliability;
2) performance; and
3) if possible, the ability to erase/mask the tuning during visits to dealer for warranty repairs.
Any thoughts?

Get whatever tune your local motorsports dealer supports. You're unlikely to personally run a low 12's quarter mile unless you're really into that sport and minimizing the variables that lead most people to run a 13. It's not like a Tesla where you grandmother could run 10's all day. Gasoline motors are fussy and are hyper sensitive to atmospheric conditions, fuel quality, heat soak, and every single mod you have working in perfect harmony.
