Default Jumpstart?

Friend just called me looking to jumpstart his wife's car with his B8 S4, but he couldn't figure out where to attach the cables.

I told him that it's probably up at the back of the engine under a flap (like the RS4) but it was just a guess.

Anyone do this yet?

the instructions are in the manual of course but there is a pos terminal near the firewall under a plastic panel. The neg cable goes to any good ground like the engine lift point or a drive accessory mount.

There is a specific negative connecting point. It looks like a large nut slightly forward and to the outside of the positive connection terminal.

Positive post is under the firewall cover, negative post is next to the AC piping pictured on the right of the photo. You can just see the top of the post in the center right of the photo.

Good luck. Many cables will not fit into the area for the positive under the hood. The trunk is easier, imho.

Exactly!. It is not necessary to connect the cables to the negative(ground )terminal. Any metal attachment point that is not isolated from the body of the car is good.

Problem with the trunk as a jump point is you have to remove whatever is in the trunk, remove a cargo mat if you have one, lift the floor material, remove the spare tire, remove the tool kit and then you have access.

Hopefully those cables will fit into the positive attachment point in the engine bay.

Portable battery charger is much easier.
