Major differences btwn 2011 vs 2012 vs 2013 S4?

The redline is still the same top range (I think the change is the red marks gradually get bigger on the tach) but the DSG just forces a shift at the bottom of it instead of letting you stray into it a bit longer. Doesn't seem to matter with a stock config because you are getting the same output.
From what I've read here, they may also have tuned the DSG models to shift a bit smoother in D than the previous years.

When did adaptive light and side assist become available. I see them on the '12 and '13 as part of Prestige, but not on the '11 order guides. Where they on a different package?
Thanks,

I think it is, but only for the DSG cars. However, I don't believe that anyone with a dsg of any year can get it to shift at the 7K redline. 6MT can be shifted at 7.2K rpms if you want. DSGs automatically shift before that regardless of what mode you are in. As for performance difference between the model years. Any diferences are purely imagined. All year cars are the same weight, same gearing and same engine output. BTW, you won't get a flat bottom steering wheel in pre 2013 cars. But you will get a car with IMHO a better looking grille.

Okay... I see side assist in various packages going back to MY10 (in the Driver Assist (PAD), which has parking sensors and the backup camera).
Now... adaptive light. Is that only on MY12 and later?
Thanks.

Adaptive headlights (and headlight washers) have been available on Canadian models since 2010. Not sure when they became available in the US, maybe with the 8.5 refresh.
I'm 99% sure they were not available in 2011. Don't know if anyone with a 2012 has these options.
FWIW, the adaptive lights work well on dark, curvy roads but are not really noticeable in the city. Headlight washers are not that useful and suck a lot of washer fluid.

When I was shopping between a used 2011 and a new 2012, I noticed that for 2012, many of the options that were standard for the 2011 Prestige model, became available as stand alone options for the Premium Plus in 2012...such as Advanced Key.
