Finally pulled the trigger
Hey all,
I'm a very excited new owner after months of searching for the right spec and deal, I've finally pulled the trigger on a new (off the lot) 2014 S4 P+!
Looking forward to lots of happy summer miles with the DrGP break-in method

I moved to the NYC from London, England about 4 and half years ago and haven't had a car since, so this is my first car over here. I used to drive the 2008 TT 2.0 TFSI (6-spd) in the UK and had to sell it the week before I moved over. A very sad day.

As far as safetly related options go, I think it's handy ... but that's it. Whilst I may not refer to it very often, because I try my best to always know what's happening around me, it's a good passive indicator. I'm very glad that it doesn't buzz like crazy the second I indicate, I don't think I would have sought a car with Side Assist if it did.
One comment I would have is that the capture range for side assist is quite wide. Meaning that you can see the car in the side mirror when the indicator light comes on, and you can see the rear quarter of the passing car alongside you when the light turns off. The positioning of the light is also much better than the tiny indicator in a corner of the mirror that some other cars have.
It's most useful when I let others drive the car because it gives me some piece of mind against blind spot related lane change incidents. My car doesn't have front parking sensors (do any S4's?), which would also be a piece of mind feature. The rear parking cam is awesome howver and really helps people with parallel parking, which coming from England I'm pretty comfortable with anyway.
