Mine exhibits weird behavior on occasion. It will short shift or not shift at WOT. However, it's not consistent something "weird" happens about 20% of the time. You can control the downshifting at WOT by not engaging the kick down switch, but you should not have to. I'm in a running "battle" with the S4 specialist at AoA over the kick down switch in manual mode, they call this a safety feature

It's how they are all designed. You can log using VCDS and see that you reach WOT well before you hit the kickdown switch, so there is no need to floor the pedal. If you don't want it to downshift, don't hit the kickdown.

Ease up on the hate rant. When you spend nearly 60 grand for a car, it should operate properly. And, for the record, Audi is the first to admit this is a problem. Speaking of which, what's YOUR problem? Did your mommy tell you to quit scotch taping car pictures to your bedroom wall? And you don't have much room to ask me if I have anything better to do. You have made over 4000 posts and your garage is still as empty as your head. Get a life.

With your whole 4 posts' worth of experience on this board, and with all of them complaining about a made-up defect, it's you that has some 'splainin' to do, not me.

Your post reads like that of a troll trying to stir up sh*t. That's what trolls do - they sign up for an account, post sh*t that doesn't mean anything, then try to get people to chime in about how right they are.

In 11+ years on this board I've seen it innumerable times, so that's why I called you out for it.

Listen ZCD2.7T, This website is about information sharing. I thought Audiworld was for Audi owners present or future who want to know the kinds of information that won't necessarily be in the manufacturer's product literature. And in fact, it is, except for the occasional rotten apple. If you would have taken the time to read the the response posts to my query from readers who actually own the vehicle, you would have seen that this is a real issue. To put it in words you will understand, in manual mode, the car doesn't work right. Simple enough? It's a big enough issue that Audi acknowledges it and is trying to fix it. I noted this in my last post, but apparently, you are just not too quick on the uptake. However,it's well documented that emotional problems can impede intellectual processing, so that may account for it. It's clear to me and anyone who has read your posts, you don't own a B8 S4. I'm not sure you own any Audi--or are still allowed to drive. Why don't you just toddle off and be offensive on websites that represent your own vehicle? Or better yet, date, get married (again?), but get a life! No one is interested in the 4000+ posts from somebody who doesn't have a dog in the fight. (That's an idiom directed to an idiot.) You are the Cliff Clavin of Audiworld.com. How sad and pathetic.

Funny thing, for all your ranting and raving, I'm the one with a photo of my car in my signature. Why not do us all a favor and let us see a photo of "your" "defective" car??

Better yet, post up a video of the defect you've described, to prove your non-troll-ism.

Otherwise, crawl back into whatever hole you climbed out of.

Default New B8 S4 with S-tronic design defect

This is an information sharing website. If you own or have driven the B8 S4 with S-tronic transmission, whether you have had problems or no problems at all, I would urge you to reply. If you are interested in, or have concerns regarding the S-tronic transmission, your queries are welcome. If you are among the 13,500 Audi and VW owners subject to the DSG recall, please tell us your history. If you have experience with this transmission as an Audi certified mechanic, again, your comments and information are heartily invited. If however, you have no foundation experience or specific interest in the Audi DSG S-tronic transmission and your only desire is to spew bile and hate, simply because you can do so on an anonymous forum website, you are not welcome.

The S-Tronic seems very different than any other non manual transmission. It has it's moments but when I drove the 335i it was a slider which I hated.

The only thing I noticed that is annoying is the surging around 1400-1800rpm while driving slow in 1st or 2nd gear.

I posted about it and many said it was the cluthes not used to my driving style but it doesn't feel like an engagement type issue. It seems like a computer controlled throttle surge.

But with 2000 miles on it, I am giving it to the 1st service visit.

Along with the PITA blue tooth issue which bothers me more!

My car does the same thing in 2nd gear. Very annoying. I've posted about it before. AoA said it was to
protect the motor from extreme torque. I say thats bull crap. Please keep us posted on what they do for you.
Good luck.

And yes its a $55k car and it should work properly for that amount of dough.
