The "drive it like you stole it" method is only one of the 3 major types of break in recommended on these forums. IMHO, it is the best way to get the piston rings seated. I believe it puts undue stress on other engine and drivetrain parts. But it will get the piston rings seated fast and completely.

He should buy a dip stick
electronic method is too unreliable.. I do not know how much Audi saves, but rumor has it in 2016 models it will return. The holder tube is still part of the engine. I paid about $30 & shipping for mine. One dealer wanted $ 47! . My dealer parts department. Could not even find it, even though I gave them Audi part number.

Its kinda funny. Go back to 2004 and Audi had TPMS sensors and BMW didn't. With the advent of run flat tires on the BMWs, BMW went to TPMS sensors and Audi switched to no sensors. I like the fact that there are no sensors. Now when you buy additional wheels you don't have pay extra for sensors. System works well enough for me.

As far as the TPMS goes, I prefer the the sensors and receiving an actual PSI readout of each tire. Does anyone know if the sensors can be added?
If not, I guess I need to get used to the rubber valve stems...

True... but with so many other ways to save costs like streamlining their model variations a much larger ROI could be realized v.s the nickle and dime savings.
