They are 7 and 9, but not that tall (both about 4 feet). They are strong enough to push it down from the side, but it just not comfortable and they are getting wet/dirty.

Letting them out of the car without help was one of the main reason I went with 4 door sedan and not convertible (and not 911) .

I still be not sure if I do anything at all, but was trying to get some new ideas. (my son's idea was to add robotic pulldown mechanism based on mindstorms or Boe-Bot)

One of the first cars I ever drove was my Dad's a 1963/4 Chevy Corvair Spyder, a special performance version. It had straps on the rear half-shafts to limit wheel movement and reduce body lean: primitive but effective. On hard turns you could feel and hear it snubbing the body lean as the webbing got taut. Nice car until I crashed it, but that is a sad story :-(

Default Try this for too high trunk when open

You can either buy the Higgins Hook (higginshook.com) or fabricate something like it. I found most of the suggestions here and on the web not helpful.

What about just having them keep their bags in the back seat with them rather than the trunk?

Default trunk deck lifters

What about changing the lifters to ones with the same load spec but a shorter range?

Brilliant. Simple is best.

Just realized previous message was a necropost and the kids are probably tall enough now to close the trunk.
