Default Radar detectors

What's up everyone, I'm interested in radar detectors and I'm just curious if anyone has any recommendations. I've been hearing a lot of talk about the Valentine one. However I'm also looking at the escort passport 9500i. I also see a belt tonics built in system for about 2k. I'm looking for any info/reviews, or tips on these. Thanks!

I use the V1 in my S4, and have it hard wired to my overhead console and mounted on the passenger visor. That lets me remove it instantly with no messy, or dangling power cord.
Works extremely well on NYS/CT/MA police radar for me, but not much help against laser ( none really are, no matter what they say ) so depending on where you drive most your results may vary.

No Sig so we have no idea where your from. I run out west were it is pretty wide open. I run the Escort Redline which is for long distance detecting. Works great and I have zero issues. Works at close range too but is designed for maximum distance alerts.

When I tried using the V1 in my 2016 A6 with side assist, I kept getting false radar alarms. Most likely the A6 side assist radar is causing it. bTW, my V1 is 6 years old. Anyone know if Valentine may have a SW fix for this issue?

Default V1 in both Audi's...

Very happy with them and yes, there is a setting for the side detection capability of Audi's and other similar cars...

Yes you have to buy an upgrade though... Worth it in my opinion.

I think my V1 is about 20 (yes twenty...it's an estimate) years old. It's been a faithful servant and still works pretty well...except for the side assist thing on the new car, which is almost unbearable.

I'm about ready to give up and replace it, and evaluating the options. I 've been hoping Car and Driver or similar pub will do an updated test on these things 'soon'. It's been quite a while and tech has been changing.

The old V1 will end up in another car I guess

The V1 has been the standard for a long time but as with everything else, the competition has gotten much better, so there are now other choices out there for the price range. It has gone through a lot of internal upgrades, but V1 faithful have started to get frustrated with the lack of a real breakthrough innovation lately. As I mentioned, it works fine for me as I don't have side assist. I also don't have an Android phone to set up custom sweeps to bring out the most of it's capability.

I've been watching a lot of reviews on the escort max 360. It seems like a solid radar detector. You guys should check it out I heard it has the same things as the v1. But you can't internally upgrade it... I could honestly care less about upgrading it. I'd rather plug it in and go, which seems to be more of the 360 max than the v1.

I'm running the escort Redline as well and it puts the V1 to shame. My problem is that its too sensitive. I need a way to not react to K bands but just KA bands. I know it'll do it but I've been too lazy to read up on it.
