Default Red MMI cable

Anyone know why the video isn't showing up on my nav screen with red mmi cable? Sound works but no video. I also get that note while driving saying that video will not be shown while car is moving, or whatever it says. Please help. Thanks

I don't think the car allows you to play video (e.g. a movie) while the car is in motion. Does it work when the car is in Park?

No it doesn't while stopped or parked. Sound works all the time. Is it a video format issue?

Not sure but it should work when in park, I think. I have had trouble with the red cable periodically telling me there are no songs on my iPod in playable format (even though it played the day before). I have resolved those situations by disconnecting and then reconnecting the iPod.

My red cable allows album art to show in the MMI. Are you seeing album art, at least?

Hopefully someone more knowledgable than me finds this thread. You might also want to try the Electronics section of the forum.

Album artwork works fine.

When I have it parked or when its stopped, it just shows a completely black screen. When in motion, I get that "no video while driving" note.

You don't say what iDevice you are using, what year S4 MMI you have nor what video file format/size you are trying to play. This might help if you have a 2013 model or later with MMI Nav Plus:

Also, no video will play while the car is moving unless VIM is enabled with VCDS.

2013 S4 with MMI+ w/ ipad2

I was just messing with it and it shows video if i go into the videos on the ipad and select a video. But if i go into videos via mmi, i get no video (only audio). I have bluetooth turned off on the ipad as its hardwired to mmi and should not be needed.

Figured it out. Weird setup within MMI. It appears you have to go into Videos-->Playlists--->(device name). From there it plays like it should.
