I am thinking of a 2015 S4 and went to the AoA configurator to get an idea of options and cost. I selected Premium Plus with S Tronic under which it said “six speed”.
When I got done building I went down to the technical specs and there it shows 7 forward and one reverse speed. This confuses me. Which is it? Or, is one for 2014 models and one for 2015?

There is no way Audi would revert to a 6-speed S-tronic after having a 7-speed (yes that's 7 forward and 1 reverse). Now having said that, that post showing the configurator on Audi's website is pretty sad.

That looks like an "oops" - somebody didn't catch it before it was put on-line. A couple of years ago there was on on-line brochure that showed the interior of an Audi (might have been the rollout of the S5) and there was clearly what looked like a fluorescent light at the top of the picture - someone neglected to crop it out of the picture.

Ya a mistake like that could cost them dozens of sales a week just from people going to the site and saying 'oh well Mercedes Benz has way more speeds, better transmission' or something like that.

I thought there were two speeds. Stop and flat out.

Thats right only two speeds, I use only reverse and the "S-gear".

I just discovered the other day my wife's 2014 SQ5 has an 8 speed transmission in it, even with the 354 HP V6. Of course no launch control.
