No problem. I get it, I'm a numbers guy too but like the other guy said after my post, it really comes down to which one makes you smile more when you are behind the wheel. You will be happy with any one of those cars, but how happy depends on what you value most in a car. Happy choosing!

Our '14 S4 is faster than our '11 Boxster S in a straight line especially at 8k ft above sea level. But the Boxster is lighter, has a shorter wheel base and corners better on twisty mountain roads. Both great cars. the S4 is much more practical particularly in winter.

I thought I would also add that I had a B6 S4, which I loved. It DID, however, have a couple little problems that led me to sell it. It had a couple little sensor problems with the windows, which I guess is "normal" (dealer's words, not mine) -- though I would argue a car with 60K shouldn't have these types of issues. I also found out what a wiper transmission was, once my wipers stopped...well...wiping. I hadn't heard of that part in all of my comings and goings with cars, and haven't heard of anyone talking about one since.

It also had a warranty replacement of the coil packs, but other than that it was pretty good. It was super loud (I miss that V8 sound), and had torque for days. However, it was much thirstier when it came to petrol -- especially in the winter months.

So, in closing, disregard this post unless you are buying a B6. I don't think the 8 or 8.5 have really anything in common with them, and seem to have a fairly reliable track record.

I really just wanted to remissness about my old V8 for a moment...

Middle of the winter: ~10mpg. I remember filling up the tank and seeing "150 mi" BRUTAL range.
