Default Sports Differential System Fault

Earlier today I had this error pop up in yellow. It stayed up there for the 10 minute drive then after turning the car off and restarting it, it has not returned. I did a search and only saw this happen to some early 2010 models which turned out to be software related. I've got 7800mi on my 2011. After plugging in the VAGCOM I recieved these fault codes for the ABS and AWD system. I'm not sure what the ABS code is saying other than an issue with the DTC memory. The AWD seems like it's pointing to bad sensors. I'm a fairly hard driver by nature but I haven't got too many miles on the car and its been sitting in the garage since Friday and the error popped up as soon as I pulled out. Anyone have any insight into this? I'll be calling the dealership in the am to see when they can get me in.

Luckily not the case here. Just the oil pressure sensor on the differential needs replacing.

Got the "Sport Differential System Fault" message yesterday when I was driving back home from work. There was quite a bit of snow in Toronto.

Was enjoying the snow . As I was coming into a slight bend I started loosing grip and traction and then the message pops next thing car ploughs through and I could not recover the slide. Pulled over turned the car off gave it a few seconds and the message went away when I started again.

Came home turned off the car and started and drove after an hour without the message coming back up.

Scheduled with the dealer for Monday. Don't have a VAGCOM reader to see if there is any code.

The SA told me that since it was very slippery the SD could have thrown that error as it could not get traction also since the error did not come back up should not have anything to be concerned with. Does this make sense ?

Please let me know your results - I had the very same error message yesterday while driving in Montreal (snowy day - Jan 30, 2015). Pulled over to the side of the road, restarted the car and no more yellow warning light. Car behaved normally, as it always does. Drove to Ottawa, no problems. Seeing my local Audi specialist Monday AM. Cheers, Stu.

Took it in today. I also started experiencing a slight misalignment right after SD error. The steering wheel has to be kept about a degree to the right to keep the car straight. So informed the SA about the alignment that started happening right after the SD message.

I was informed that there is no point of checking for an error if there is no more errors since it originally came on. And also diagnostics would be charged if they do not see any errors. So I told them to do a visual inspection of the SD while doing the alignment.

Once the alignment was completed I was told that one of the rear wheels seems to have taken an impact from something which caused the SD errors as well as the misalignment. Suspect something heavy like ice of some sort hitting the rear, which could have caused the errors and the misalignment. They said there is nothing else wrong with the SD or the suspension.

The dealership also gave me a brand new set of OEM wiper blades when the alignment was done.

So far I am kinda glad it was nothing serious, but only time will tell.

Just curious here, I haven't experienced any issues with the SD.

To clarify.... The dealer found nothing wrong, performed an alignment and the fault hasn't returned? If the cause of the brief fault was caused by an impact to the particular axle and the impact caused misalignment, did the dealer find any part of your suspension bent? This just seems odd to me, it must have been a rather large bump!

The error only showed up once when it happened and then did not come up again and there was no code stored either.

The dealer did say something significant hit the rear but informed nothing was damaged or bent in the rear suspension. And once the alignment was done the car has been driving like new.

Yeah I do agree a rather large bump must have happened to throw the error and cause the misalignment but the dealer said that there was no damage to the suspension. Maybe I caught a lucky break

Do you have a part number for the sensor?
