It's not uncommon to have modern cars tell us when it's time to change the oil, which tire is low, and other items of interest around the car due to sensors laced everywhere. But I have never had my car tell me it needed oil before.

No. It didn't actually 'talk' to me but the light came on the dash and the message on the screen told me I was a quart low but I could still drive to the dealer.
A quart low??? Now that's a seriously sensitive and accurate sensor!

So while I can't get to the dealer this week for an oil change (the system claims I have time left before scheduled change) I had to add a quart to tie me over. While in the engine I noticed the filter at the back of the motor on top. Is this a cartridge type? Has anyone looked this up yet?
