I tried loading some movies and video files onto an SD card, but I can't play any of the files back in the car. I tried several formats; including .mp4, .avi, and .mkv. None of them seems to work. I haven't had time to read the manual yet, but can anyone advise what can be wrong? If there a file size limit? Thx!

If you figure it out, let me know. The file formats supported are pretty specific, and I thought I had them nailed, but for some reason they just won't play. I suspect it's because I'm using a Mac and maybe there's some random data flag not getting set right into the .mp4 file I don't know about....

my 2013 S4, i am able to play Xvid and MP4.

Sometime, I grab stuff off from youtube and play them in the car as well.

MP4 max 480p.

For Xvid: i use AUTOGK to encode it.

Interesting... Do you think it's limited to the max 480p resolution then? at least for .mp4? I think the files I have tried were 720p and 1080p. I will try limit to 480p and see what happens. Thx.

There's a spec chart in the manual. It's a combo of frame size (I think 480p is the highest), frame rate (max of 25fps), and some other specifics.

Ok, it's working for me now. I converted some music video files from 720p to 480p/.mpg; so far they are all playing well via the SD card.
