Worth Considering Extended Warranty on the S4's?
I have a 2012 S4 with 33k miles and my warranty ends in aug 2015. I have received quotes from the dealer for the extended platinum audi warranty:
- 6 yrs / 60,000 miles - $3900 (covers everything the original warranty covers, it is transferrable or if you decide to sell the car or cancel the warranty you get a prorated amount back) This would be the price if i buy before the year is over and car is still under 34,000 miles
Question for the 2010 and 2011 owners - is this worth getting based on the repairs you guys have seen after the original warranty ends. $3900 bucks is quite steep but so are some of the repairs for Audi's in general.
Any major problem areas for the B8 S4 that would make this worth getting?
Thanks All

I would not want to own any German car without a warranty. Especially if the car has some miles on it. BUT I would not consider buying one until my currency warranty was about to expire. You never know what could happen to you or your car between now and then. You might decide you want to buy something else? BTW, when I purchased my latest used 2011 S4, I purchased an extended warranty at that time. There were different levels of coverage and different prices.I would be concerned about the t stat, wheel bearings, DSG trans, and sport dif. Clutch is not covered under any warranty

- two b&o front speaker replacements (500 bucks each plus labor)
- Rear differential replaced (2 k is my guess on that one)
- Sirus sat module issue so it was replaced (500-1k maybe)
Thats quite a bit for a 3 year old car. i will consider a warranty on the main components next aug when the original one ends.
