S versions only account for around 5% of A4 sales. Probably higher ratio in NA though. So they can afford to give a few away in Canada.
The Canadian situation is of course exchange rate driven. If you are an expat working in Canada being paid from abroad, then it is Christmas. But for the Canadians, it is probably just business as usual. I'm sure an S4 remains an expensive purchase for most people there, even if it is cheaper than in Germany. I should stock up on maple syrup.
Margins would appear to be much higher than the US, but I suspect an even bigger difference than retailer margins may be distributor margins. But perhaps more to do with higher fixed overheads relative to unit volumes than wage rates. These, and Audi prices, vary dramatically from country to country within Europe. I only use Germany as the benchmark, otherwise it gets too confusing.
The RS situation is supposed to be changing, and they should no longer be limited by production capacity as they were previously. They are building an RS3 for NA, and I have heard rumours of an RS Q5, which just seems wrong to me but that is where the market has gone.
I'm not sure RS vehicles going forward are going to be quite as unique and hard edged as in the good old days.

No discount for me. The only thing I nagotiated was a set of baby shoes stamped with the Audi logo. When I get my S4 in Junuary or February, I want these little shoes hanging on the rear-view mirror for my girlfriend. We're anticipating our first baby in Mai ^^

I'll try my best to get some discounts and report back.

I was not expecting the B9 S4 to show up until spring or summer. How can it be a 2018MY if it gets built during December 2016?

Most of the popular Audi models that are sold in China are made there. These are the A3 sporkback/sedan, A4L (Exclusive chinese long wheelbase model), Audi A6L (Exclusive Chinese long wheelbase model), Q5, and Q3. The 7-speed S-tronic transmissions for the Chinese market models are also being built in China.* Total Audi China production on 2015 is 433,848 cars. In 2015, Audi delivered 570,889 cars in the Chinese market**.

It is indeed strange that it is a 2018 model year. Must be because they skipped the 2017 MY. When time will come to sell it, it will be at my adventage so I'm not complaning ^^
