One can order, but weird that's its not even in the 'Future Cars' list on the audiusa website. This whole roll-out has been one of the weirdest from AOA.

I wonder if this seemingly strange release process is related to Audi's much publicized problems with the EPA. The S4 will be the first vehicle in the US equipped with the new 3.0T and it is possible that Audi must complete a more rigorous EPA certification process for this new engine given their past indiscretions.

It is a bizarre process where you can order a car, have it built and sent to port, while no pricing exists and no other information exists at all from official Audi sources. I arrived in Germany (US military) in summer 2015, went to the Frankfurt car show that September, got way excited over the S4 model on the floor... and there have been crickets about it ever since. Just so strange. By the way, I'm buying a US spec to be delivered to me straight in Germany, whenever it decides to exist. And whenever black optics become an option, that part is non-negotiable.

One is not legally committed to buying - when I ordered I told my dealer that I still wanted to try-out the transmission before writing the check.
