S4 ground clearence - usability
Hi guys, I'm in the market for new A4 avant/allroad.
I feel tempted by the new S4 avant, but I'm a bit worried about its ground clearence, if it would be enough (shoud be sitting 23 mm lower). It will be my only car, so I need it to be practial for all the daily driving in city and traveling.
What is your experience, do you had any trouble in cities, like speed stops, climbing a curb, hitting a curb when parking or driving into shopping center's garages with limited pathways?
How often do you hit the bottom or with the front spoiler?
Also what about 19 inch wheels in these conditions. Do you have any problems with them?
I live in Slovakia (EU), not really bad roads but also far from perfect.

It isn't that low to be concerned. I've driven the S4 Avant which was 3mm lower than an A4 quattro 3.0TDI Avant with sport adaptive suspension. I didn't notice the 3mm difference in ground clearance, and the front spoilers between the two are similar in terms of clearance.
If clearance is a major issue, you would be better off with the Allroad. But if your local dealer has an A4 with sport suspension, just drive that to see if it is okay for you. S4 will be no worse.
You just need to decide whether you want the extra sidewall protection from the 18" wheel. I haven't driven in Slovakia.

Thank you for your input. I have driven a4 with adaptive sport suspension and it was fine, but I was not trying it in garage driveways and general parking in city. The car is now gone and can't try it again.
Yes I'll probably stick with a4 or allroad. Still, would love to have 3.0l petrol engine
