Should I buy a 2016 or order a 2017?

If I bought a B8 at the very end of its generation, the envy I would feel every time a new B9 passed by would be unbearable. However, it is increasingly unlikely that the B9 S4 will be released in the US this year, so you may have to wait until 2017.

If it were up to me...
… The new B9 S4 is ladled with tech and I would not want the first year of all this jazz. I bought my 2004 A6 2.7T at the end of that model run and had 75,000 trouble free (as in zero warrantee issues) life with the car.The B8 S4/S5 is just a fantastic car all around… for me the choice is a 2016 S4/S5.
Good luck with you decision,
Eric

I'm liking much of the tech on the B9....the new S4 might be the best yet.

Same here. Waiting for the TDI remedy/conundrum/settlement to finalize and it looks like this Summer before all is settled. I love my Q5 TDI but it is time to move on. S3 is fantastic but a little too small for my requirements, B9 A4 has me enthralled but I'm a bit hesitant with that engine. With the platform change, the current S4 selections are dwindling...my local dealer has ONE in stock. Not sure when the order book closes on the current unit, but it must be pretty soon.

The S3, which the OP ended up ordering, is also out of production at the end of this month. It can no longer be ordered here, with order books opening in June for the new facelift version, which is more than a facelift for the S3. There are already published road tests of it in Europe, as Audi have already done a pre-production run. The new 7 speed S tronic has lifted performance quite noticeably, and the Haldex control software has been remapped to reduce front bias. In addition to the cosmetic stuff such as virtual cockpit, etc, etc. Hopefully, Audi will revise their performance estimate on the B9 S4, as the new S3 appears to be faster...

Is, Or Is there NOT going to be a 2017 S4
I have been holding off for the release of the 2017 S4 ( so I can place my order). I have seen numerous articles in magazines like Car and Driver citing the 2017 S4, and that it would be available mid summer of 2016.
However, I recently was told by my local Audi dealer that there would be no 2017 S4. He said the the car would be released in the first quarter of 2017 as a 2018 model. So, whom I to believe? Will or Will there Not be a 2017 S4?

Sad & depressing state of affairs. Need to find an alternative vehicle.
