Hi everyone I just removed my engine and trans to install a new clutch and pressure plate, resurfaced flywheel, valvecover gaskets and cam seals, timing belt, coolant temp sensor and coil pack. I installed engine and trans back In car and now it cranks but doesn't start. When cranking it stops cranking for a second and sounds like it wants to fire but doesnt. If I unplug crank sensor or power output stage 2 it cramks normal. I scanned the car with vagcom and have no codes stored. Anyone with any advice on where to go from here.I'm kinda leanin towards flywheel timing being off but woild think the computer would recognize it and throw a code. I have no codes stored in the engine computer and really dont want to remove everything again but I'm running outta options

Also forgot to mention I tested the wires from the output stages to the coils and from the ecm to the power stages and they were in spec. I checked engine and cam timing they are correct. I have spark but its erratic and I have fuel going to the rail. Didn't have a noid light set to test injectors but pulled a plug and it was wet and smell like fuel. I'm sure its something I did as the car ran great before all this. I even changed engine speed sensor with a new one and still no start and bogs down when it sounds.like irs going to start.

I've once helped out a friend that mixed the wires on the ICMs. So the car was firing on the wrong side. Same symptoms as you.
Very simple to check, one icm should have two black plugs connected and the other one should have two brown plugs connected.
