So, to make a long story short, i got screwed out of a trans a little less than a year ago, so had to buy another. I got one with a warrenty, and the 6 gear snycrho is bad, so its getting pulled under warrenty. I have a 2.8trans in my garage from my stage 3 a4 in thinking of putting in and getting my cash back. I know i need to change a few things, but this tranny is strong as can be. When i my a4, it would take the track abuse all day long. I have heard to many horror stories of/seen with the s4 6sp 1-2 synchros problems from hard shifts.Im not sure the dif, but this 2.8trans love it. What do you guys think about this? I have heard the gear ratios are slightly lower, so its going be good for drag racing. The main reason i want to swith is becuase how strong they are, im not sure what the dif is, but i smashed gears all day long with no synchro/slider probs ever at the track, the things a beast. Its 5th gear is plenty tall for highway use aswell, i had it up to 155 to 160 in my stage 3 A4. But my main Q is, what all do i need to make the swap. I have my 1.8t rear driveline assembly from the my 1.8t A4 that i used with the 2.8 trans, and it all worked great. Any ideas or knowlegde would be GREATLY appreciated. Ram, i dont think this is a 01E trans. Its from a b5 a4 2.8 5sp. Anyone know anything ont the swap?

Greg &amp; Carlos at SSP tuning have done a few conversions, including tip to 6-spd. Give them a call too if you're on the east cost...

I guess its not a direct swap, like bolting in the trans and driving. Does anyone know exactly what else i would need? like a parts list?

Also ram, ive read through the link, and i dont see any info regarding this. Thanks for all your help.

Not sure if I could help you with parts you'd need but how old is this tranny? considering the beating you put on it, if it ends up being too much work for the swap, would you be willing to sell it?
