there is a a 2000 s4 for sale finding out more details but i would like to know would it be a bad idea to get. i figure worse case i could get that for parts, i currently drive an 98 a8q

Well, keep in mind there's a reason it's $500 and not KBB value. That means something needs repaired that they didn't have the money for, most likely. Find out what it is and see if you can't find someone to do it for you for cheap. If so, it might be worth a shot. Otherwise, though, at that price it's best just for parts. If you're good with cars, identifying the problem shouldn't be too hard. I am kinda curious to see what you find out, tbh.

turned out to just be an a4, wasn't in bad shape cosmetically, but the son who was driving it let it run out of oil... not for me at this time so just decided to pass on it and use the $ else where.
