Car is idling at or around 1000rpm but fluctuating between 800 and 1100. constant oscillation. can someone lend some advice?

Change your spark plugs if they are due and clean your MAF with an electronic cleaner spray. Autozone has some (I think it's CCR or something like that).

i may not be any help. but my first a4 did that and i had to replace the throttle body. '

now my s4 is doing it to and i was scared to ask the forum because every question has been asked before and the old locals ( and some new people who post alot) usally tell you to search past posts.

issue has changed to a crank no start/ hard start. Will only start with gas pedal floored and keep it running with revs. Then the EPC light and Check Engine light come on, power is very limited and it stalls due to lack of throttle response to keep it alive. MAF was checked, and appears to be functioning properly; also swapped in a known good one.... no change in performance... 60k miles, tiptronic.. previously EPC light would come on [and limit power intermittently] with no supporting drivability issues.
