Default blown K04 after only 6000miles

I had my car upgraded to K04s with new Milltek downpipes/cats. Had blown K04 only after 6000 miles. Had no trouble from the car prior except for an intermittent oxygen sensor resistance too high code. Hadn't even tracked the car yet! Happened after driving the car a few minutes after starting in 5 degree weather. What gives? Got the K04s from stratmosphere...not sure if faulty k04 or not, but I would imagine it has to be....had OCT stage 4 software (yes I know nooone likes it, but its was I had). My mechanic is a bit gun-shy as he cannot figure it out until he pulls the engine but thinks its like faulty turbo (had like a quart of oil in my intercooler hose) ...is that common after only 6000 miles? I was religious about changing the oil (Mobil 1) and cooling the car down even though I really did not ride it hard as it had been so damn cold in NY. Now I am paranoid about tracking the car when I have it fixed.
So now the car is about to be redone and I am looking for any advice...thanks.

Default Not common. I have about 20K on my K04's so far, no problems. Check your DV's and for boost leaks

as B5QShip has already said.

OK, stupid question, but why would boost leak cause turbo to fail?

I believe that it would have to work extra hard to overcome the leak to meet the requested boost.

Default Have the faulty turbnad (if that's the problem) sent back to Strat. They should warranty it if

it's a defect rather than user error. Proving that can be tricky, though, so be prepared for a battle.
