hmm.. doesn't anyone read anymore... :p
thanks for all the replies guys, wanted to follow up...
i knew that the missing CEL and EPC had to be related directly to the ECU, so lack of power to engine module, bad fuses, bad relay, or bad ECU.
Multimeters are great, and heres why:
-battery terminals reading 12.44Vs (or you could use cluster gauge)
-In car terminals reading about 12Vs
-Hooked up relays to 12V power source and multimeter to appropriate terminals, and have multimeter test connectivity.
All tests came out good, so it had to be a bad ECU. borrowed an M box from my mechanic (even though I have a 2000) and unplugged the MAF. I started it up and let it idle for a while, then gave it a little throttle to test that fueling system where all in order.
So yea, bad ECU. but for guys who search the forum in the future, this is the proper way to test.

Just to clear things up guys for most of you.If you have issues communicating with a module in the car chances are the module is no good. But always check make sure you have power and ground and no broken wires.Or you can do it the easy way.Alot of the module in these cars talk to one another on the kline lline and canbus. If you cant log into the ecu go into the abs should have a fault for no communication to ecu that will rule it out quickly.

I´m having the same problem, so thanks for making my life easier with this thread .
Car died without failures, at a highway.
Can´t comunicate with ECU
I´m now looking for another ECU.
If someone can help...my ECU is model D ( 2000 EURO) and a little hard to find.
I have the eurodyne flash tool.
Would it be possible install a US ECU 2000 or 2001.2 and flash it to the my actual file ? ( only 2 O2 sensor, no catalytic , bosch MAF etc )
Thanks !!
