CEL P1522 FIX
Hey guys I would just like to let you guys know how I got rid of a CEL I had for about 5 months. So back then I had just gotten a cam chain and tensioner job on a 80,000km used engine I as putting in my car to replace an older engine that died. So after getting my car back I would keep getting a CEL but only on startup accompanied by if cool enough the oh so mentioned chain noise from the tensioner, that would go away once the car was warm. The codes I would get would be P1522 and the occasional random misfire or a cylinder number. So after sending it to another 2 mechanics to try and fix it to no avail I just let it be on the fact they said it would be ok to drive. I myself then went through the normal **** everyone says such as icms, coil packs, spark plugs, the actaul cps ect but none actauly solved the issue. That's when late last night I read up about "lazy tensioners" on w8 engines and sometimes they won't open fully with the 5v's the ecu supplies the tensioner. This method is done by simply connecting 2 gator clips to the tenioners plug on the tensioner side and the other 2 ends on the battery terminals, 15 taps on - and + then switch polarity real quick for another 15. What this does it gives the tensioner enough power to actually open up fully, something it has never done before since it only got 5v's from the ecu. Well all in all I just drove back home from work travelling 150km plus 6 car restarts to find THIS METHOD FIXED MY PICKLE. It would usually trip after 20km and a turn off but now I have yet to see it at all today, I will update the thread but I'm pretty sure this method just fixed my car, and I thought I would let all you guys know because I literally wanted to shoot myself in the face every time I heard that tensioner.
