Do I need to replace my DMF (dual mass flywheel)? pics/video inside
I'm swapping transmissions and when I pulled the clutch off I noticed uneven wear on the flywheel side of the disc. My car is a stage 3. The clutch being used is a Vast Stage 3 clutch (B5 RS4 pressure plate and disc).
I know I'll need a new disc because it's nearly worn. What about the flywheel though? Does it seem like it needs to be replaced?
I'm uploading a video to show you guys the situation. The video doesn't show it well but there is also a little bit of up and down motion when you pull on the 1st flywheel. The pressure plate does have a few burn spots but I can just get it resurfaced, right? It's perfectly smooth.
The reason I'm swapping transmissions is because my 2nd went out. There was not chatter or any noise coming from the flywheel whatsoever.
Disc (flywheel side). Note the kind of different shaded circle located close to the ribbets or holes in the middle of the friction disc. If you wipe your finger across, there is a slightly noticeable depth compared to the rest of the disc. I'd say it's around 0.5mm. The flywheel has the same pattern.

The "free-play" distance from A to B on the flywheel is 10-12mm
