Drove 200 Miles Without Oil Cap
Long story short:
Popped hood after detecting a faint oil smell. Found the oil cap sitting down in the engine bay which means I drove 200 miles without an oil cap. Mess in engine bay is minimal...very light oil coating on coolant reservoir and immediate vicinity so I cleaned it off.
I checked the oil level and it is fine (just did a change 2 weeks ago). No oil light or low pressure warnings at all, no noises, car felt fine.
Put cap back on and tighten all the way. Am I good to go and can chalk this up as a lesson learned? or is something waiting to grenade?
