Before you buy a new ECU, are you sure it's not the chip? My GIAC chip crapped out and I couldn't
start my car. I sent the ECU to my GIAC dealer to be diagnosed and they replaced the chip under warranty. It turned out to be the chip.

the pins are the lil metal things in the black plastic houseing that the
wire harness from the car plugs into i belive that is what you are asking about. becareful not to hit the board with static or you could kill it when the cover is off the board/chip.

Very well could be...
I've been having issues with car stalling when hitting big bumps in road. A few days ago it became wierd when starting - sometimes it would fire first time, others it would take 20/30 tries to get it going??
I bought the car with the chip installed, don't know if giac would cover it now??
Thanks for your input

I think it's the chip that I want to remove from the ECU..

I just picked up an IC remover but I don't know if it's the small part (where Giac is written) or the whole smaller board that I should be removing?

The daughterboard should be soldered on. Just remove the socketed chip itself.
Be careful about pulling too hard - if you pull too hard, the daughterboard could separate and you'll have to re-solder the joints.
It seems GIAC chips go bad more than others. Then again, GIAC is the most popular chip, so that isn't saying much.

the chip is the one with the sticker
it is attached to the daughter board, then that is attached to the ecu itself, Looks like your in over your head, you dont need an ic remover for that chip. What are you trying to accomplish? i can have it reworked for you.
