First, thanks to the experts who live in here to help out guys like us.

My 10K service is comming up fast. I have a 2002 S4 (tip). I had my stock ECU upgraded to GIAC X ECU that is in the car now. Out of fear of dealer BS, I bought a SPARE ECU that is in the trunk (just in case). I have NOT swapped them yet to try out the new stock ECU that I ordered last month. When I go to swap them, I know the procedure, but I am weary of the chatter of Immobilizer codes and other Immobilizer stuff I read here and on APR website.

So, do the 2002 S4 have any immobilizer (III) or just adaptive immobilizer (II) that requires nothing special in the ECU swap.

You chipped your stock ECU and then purchased a new ECU to use as the "stock" one?

How exactly do you think this is going to trick the dealer? Your new ECU has a different build date from your original ECU. Well, unless you swap the cover of your original ECU with the new one... ;-)

No S4 has the immobilizer.

I know this is an old posting. My 2001 S4 does not have an immobilizer, but do any later model B5 S4 US market cars have an immobilizer?
