Default i guess im not getting your point...

if a specific tune drives the motor with all its ouputs: wastegate, timing, throttle body etc...using all its inputs, 02, boost pressure, intake charge temp...etc. and the motor responds with very little error (over shoot, undershoot, control instability) then the tune correctly reflects the current mechanical response of the motors. i.e. the motor and the ecu are working together efficiently...i.e. running well.

Default No. He's running the APR kit which uses the RS4 MAF sensor.

It reads higher than the stock sensor (up to ~380+ g/sec, IIRC).

Default i wonder if the smooth boost curve (line) you have is because of the exh. manifolds

it's a nice match requsted vs actual .. and only 21.5 psi Dave ? i though you were around 23-24.

Default What Mark is (correctly) saying is that requested boost and actual boost are tuned independently.

Its possible to have an actual boost curve that doesn't match the requested boost curve at all.

The requested curve is only there as a measure for positive or negative deviations, but isn't a feedback loop that the car tries to achieve.

Default Nope, 21-22 psi on the race program.

Street program is ~21 psi tapering to ~19-20 at redline.

Default ok, i get it. interesting...i learned something :)

i guess its confusing because the curves layed over each other (requested vs actual) looks like a classic control systems response curve.

Default And if anything the manifolds make it tougher to have a smooth boost curve.

Tony@EPL and I spent quite a bit of time dialing the boost in to get it to look like that.
