Are EPL and ASP MAFs the same? I.E. Would software written for one, work for the other.

All other tings being equal of course.

Default AFAIK they are both 85mm MAF's, and of the same basic design. So they should work

I'm actually running an ASP MAF with my EPL tune, since I was tuned before EPL had their own MAF. But then again I'm custom tuned which would take into account any differences in the MAF.

But yea, I would think either would work just fine.

Default It's not quite that simple. The inner diameter tapers across the length of the housing

so if the diameter is not exactly the same where the acutal MAF sensor is located, there will be differences in calculated MAF. They're probably close, but I don't think you can guarantee they're plug and play without some precise measurements.

Default That is true. But both also mate up to the RS4 accordian and stock airbox

and in order to do that I *think* it has to taper. So the taper, or lack there of, might effect things. But I'm pretty sure when the maf is designated "85mm" that means it has an 85mm diameter where the sensor is located.

I agree, I was oversimplifying things. But in this case, I think they are pretty interchangeable.

In addition to precise measurements, consider actual placement of sensor inside.

IIRC, EPL's MAF actually says ASP on it.
