To replace the Reverse Light Switch on a tranny, do you have to pull the Transmission? The shop says, they must pull the tranny out in order to replace the Reverse light switch.
I am doing research but haven't found anyone talking about pulling the transmission.
My car is Tiptronic(automatic transmission).
Thanks

im trying to see if the last shop knows about this car or not. The last shop I took in to for the broken reverse light switch and they told me they had to pull the tranny to get to the switch. Its broken again. The fuse and bulbs are okay so I am thinkin bad switch again, but I dont know if I should pay for that labor again. I can't really trust that shop.. they are just tellin me they couldn't get to the switch. No explanation on why they couldn't get to the switch...

Also having trouble finding reverse light switch '95 A6
I'm having a problem with this too. The only thing that's not working are the backup lights. They actually came on for a second or two today while backing out of my friend's garage. He's a VW mechanic and we put the car on his lift and looked high and low, but could not find this switch. I'm assuming it looks like this: http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/de...3-1613851.html
Anyone have some insight on the ACTUAL location and how to access it? Thanks.
