Well, I don't think $3000 for an engine pull and turbo install is way out there. Those of you that got it for cheaper, good for you, but I don't think under $2000 is really typical. The TB job averages around 900 - 1200 depending on where you go, and the real problem I have with what AWE is telling him is not the labor for the turbo swap but the fact that they are charging him the full price for the TB even with the engine out. That alone should make you consider going elsewhere.

3150 for stage 3 is a ****1NG JOKE!!!!
1150 on top for a Timing belt when they are going to pull all that anyway is even worse. I would not buy 1 thing from them EVER after that bull****. Going rate for both out-the-door is about $2000 tops.

Damn, where do you guys live that you can get work done that cheap? Even at 60 bucks an hour (which is a damn good hourly rate for labor around here) you're looking at 50 hours of work until you hit 3000. That's about what it will take to pull the motor, put in new turbos and drop the motor back in...or do your shops also work faster in addition to charging rock bottom prices?

Work faster. Much faster. although book time for the job is around 32 hours IIRC.

That would put it under 2grand then. A shop like AWE should be able to pull an S4 engine without breaking a sweat. In my defense I'll say that a less specialized shop might hit closer to the 50 range because they're not as experienced.

Still, I am surprised that AWE would quote so high.

For $3 grand I'd still learn to do it myself. Heck for $2000, I'd even do the swap for someone else.
