help! fueling issue, codes 17535 17537
I have a stage 1 2001.5 S4. APR 93 octane program, darintake, sflow cone air filter, 710Ns, lightweight pulleys, Samco TBB, green aux coolant temp sensor
I have had several other codes, but have replaced components and gotten many of them to disappear.
The codes that were the initial problem and which still remain are:
17537 - Fuel Trim; Bank 2 (Mult): System too Rich
P1129 - 35-00 - -
17535 - Fuel Trim; Bank 1 (Mult): System too Rich
P1127 - 35-00 - -
I have replaced in the last two months: 1. MAF (Hitachi)
2. O-rings on all fuel injectors-2 for each (previously two of the injectors were leaking both air and fuel)
3. Spider hose
4. Leaking brake booster hose
5. all spark plugs
6. front o2 sensors
7. catastrophically failed Aux water pump
8. coolant temperature sensor
Long term fuel trims after being reset go to -20% within about 10-15 miles of cruising at highway speed.
I have pressure tested and no vacuum leak after I replaced the brake booster hose.
I replaced all the components above based upon STFA and reading nearly every post somewhat relevant.
I am beginning to suspect:
1. fuel pump
2. fuel pressure regulator
3. fuel injectors not flowing properly
4. exhaust leak
5. faulty check valve somewhere
6. faulty solenoid concerning boost or return of fuel vapors
7. cracked/split/leaking hose somewhere
Logs of the front o2 sensors even after replacement seem to be low; i.e. the voltages are not at .85 but lower like .79, etc. And they fluctuate which from all the reading I've done seems to be proper.
One other possible suspect: when doing output tests, is there supposed to be a whoosh sound? You remove the PCV when doing pressure test, but when I replaced the spider hose it came with a new PCV. Also each component "clicks" as it's supposed to from the output tests.
Logs of boost show that actual and expected are same/on par with each other as to be expected from APR 93 octane program.
What do I test, where do I go, what do I do?
The dealer sucks here in San Antonio, my good mechanic that I had went out of business and I cannot find him, and another shop I took it to is stumped.
One other clue: right after stopping after a recent long 300 mile trip, there was hissing noise coming from one of the 3 fuel lines in the area of the firewall on the passenger side where they go through -- probably one the (check?) valves on one of the lines there.
This seems to indicate to me that there is too much pressure in the fuel lines (which is also probably what caused the fuel injectors to start leaking).
Any thoughts/help would be greatly appreciated.

None of them do, they are all generic kits. You either cut the rubber fuel line going to the engine, or you pull the rubber fuel line off the fuel rail and connect it in there.

possible resolution
After having the car smoke tested, a local shop reported lots of smoke coming out from the variable valve timing cover gaskets. They are the metal mostly rectangular shaped pieces with little arms coming off them in timing belt kits (about 4 inches long).
Have not had a chance to replace them yet, but seems like the likely culprit.
