Actually, the whole drive train, minus the engine!

1st/2nd selector (left) and 2nd gear/Sychro (right) Small inner teeth are synchronized and lock, if not done right, they grind, instead! They are what make that lovely grinding sound!

With this little bit of mushrooming, the selector ring hangs on its hub, not able to slide to the 1st gear side.

Default my dog eats everything, including valve caps.. now.. unless u wanna watch him do his..

stuff every day, waiting for those pieces to come back, keep the dog away!

Default Why not? ;-)

Son trashed 1st/2nd gear selector, and 2nd gear, car not drivable until this repair is done. Rear end was dismantled to check for any damage from accident 2 years ago, just to be safe.

Default Once again, you da man. Another illustrated service volume by Big Jim.

You have more ***** than I do, willing to take that all apart yourself and be confident it is all going back together correctly.

You also must have a very understanding wife to let you keep the tranny IN the house. ;-)

Default Re: Those syncros are definent signs of improper metal hardening...

If that is the case, there is probably a batch of bad (or potentially) bad details - not a good thought.
