Just an observation, but have you ever seen any light colored interiors...
that look showroom new after a couple of years? I always thought Black/tan was the ultimate combo, but every light interior I have seen, after say 5 years, the cracks and wear detract from the car.
It's not like the wear of an old Coach bag, it's just looks tired. Compare that to a same year car in black leather, and it looks new.
My $0.02 worth on the topic...

A bit more on Alcantara
ALCANTARA:
Developed in Japan, Alcantara is the first non-woven cloth destined for clothing to be used in Haute Couture. This very fine needle punched fabric imitates antelope, but has many qualities that render it superior. After finishing, Alcantara is comprised of 60% amalgamated polyester fibers and 40% polyurethane. Uses: clothing, handbags, shoes, upholstery. Alcantara is manufactured in Italy.
