Well, I've finished an HTML version of the training manual. The original PDF scan was about 20 mb, this version is closer to 100k. Thanks a lot to Adam T for letting me publish this. It may be a little buggy on some browsers (IE, images in the wrong place), but sorry about that.

Here you are:

What are the key features and facts that a Brand Specialist should understand about the S4 2.7 engine and how should that information be communicated to the customer?

Organize you Background Data Here

The 2.7 Bi-turbo Engine
Published figures are 250 HP at 258 lb ft torque at 1850. The 2,7 actually delivers a little more that 250 hp and produces slightly more that 260 pound feet or torque. Of key importance to the performance of the 2.7 is it's extremely flat torque curve. The engine offers enourmous pulling power and maximum torque in the 1,850 to 3,600 in the mid speed range.

Flat Torque Benefit
Once you're in 6th gear - at speed from 45 to 70 - you will find that the flat range of torque gives you plenty of power so that you can accelerate rapidly to pass without having to shift down.

The quattro drive line offers optimum traction on all surfaces in all conditions, excellent lat-eral grip and more driv-ing security. The Torsen center differential automatically distributes power to the wheels which have better traction.

Audi was the first manufacturer to successfully sell high-performace, permanent four wheels drive with the quattro, released in Europe in 1981 and in the US in 1982.

Audi adopted the torsen (stands for TORque SENsing) differential, for its second generation quattro system and is the system used today on all model but the TT quattro.

#2
What, other than power, are the key components of the S4's superior handling capability?

HP2 Brakes

The S4 features 12.6 in ventilated discs on 16 inch rotors and high-performance twin-piston HP2 calipers. At the rear 10.1 inch ventilated discs. The system design offers diagonally split dual circuits, ABS/EBV, and a brake booster servo.

The Turbo Concept
A turbo engine utilizes an impeller, driven by exhaust gases, which forces more air into the combustion chambers at high pressures which in turn creates a better and more even burn which improves combustion and generates more power.
Why a 2.7 liter engine and not a 2.8?
With the addition of the bi-turbo, it became necessary to build and engine that would compensate for the higher combustion pressures theat result with turbo-charging. The smaller bore handles the combustion pressure better and in so doing will last longer than a 2.8 under the same pressure. A second reason the engineers decreased the bore was to reduce engine noise. The larger the bore the noiser the engine.

The Bi-Turbo and Twin Turbo are two names for the same system. By introducing two small turbo chargers instead of one large one, Audi has cheated the moment of inertia. Shortened exhaust distances and a charge cooling system for each cylinder block enable the engine to build yp enor-mous power and - when combined with quattro - make it possible for the S4 to deliver more tractive power and provide more power reserve which is especially evident while accelerating in 6th gear. Its acceleration reading is 0 to 60 in 5.9 seconds. [Manual]
Enviromental Benefit
The intelligent exhaust temprature control, with maximum readings under 1,000C, and two primary catalytic converters ensure that the engine produces low emissions.

#2 CON'T

Xenon Lights - Standard
The newly developed Xenon Plus System provides high light intensity, long range, wide illuminated zone and even light distribution to the high-beam headlights. A further safety advantage is that the new gas-discharge head-lights cast intensive light that is very similar to natural daylight very evenly over a distance ranging from close up to 1300 feet away and thus help reduce driver eye fatigue.
A dynamic, fully automatic headlight beam throw adjustment system and the larger light aperture protect drivers of oncoming vehicles from excessive glare. In contrast to other concepts, there is no shutter blocking off part of the light beam on the Audi Xenon Plus. The xenon tube is pivoted into the correct position in the reflector by means of a quick-acting electromagnet. This means that the full amount of light is always avaliable.
&nbsp ;As a further advantage of this adjustment feature [which responds within 120 milliseconds] the change between dipped and high-beam headlights is easy on the eyes. The glass bulb with a 4.3 millimeter long arc of light is returned to the dipped position by a spring inside the adjusting magnet.

The S4 offers the new SIDEGUARD as standard equipment - two head airbags which are stored in the side headlining of the roof and which unfold like a curtain in an accident. When activated, SIDEGUARD covers practically the whole side window area and in an emergency protects head and shoulder areas of all occupants seated on the outside. The 6 inch think [approx.] side head airbags stay filled for about five seconds after activationproviding protection if the car then over turns.
The full-size front airbags and the four side airbags integrated into the seat backs now make a total of eight airbags for further improvements in safety for the occupants. SIDEGUARD is also avaliable as an option on the Audi A4.

#3
What are the newest safety benefits to be found on the S4?

The torsen differential is a fully mechanical device of worm gears that can split torque 50:50 in a no-slip condition. However, when on axle slips, the torsen differential will send more torque to the axle with more grip, in other words, it works in an exactly opposite way to a convential differential. Since it is a completely mec-hanical device, the locking action is instantaneous and prograssive.
The torsen does not lock or inhibit speed differences under braking, thus allowing all 4 wheels to rotate indepently at their own speeds when no power is applied. The torsen differential only locks in a power application situation while some other system lock both during acceleration and braking. The torsen has a torque sensing characteristic while other have a rotational sensing chracteristic.
The accusations that four wheel drive wastes a lot of gas is only applicable to part time manually engaging systems. A full time system with a center differential has non of the tire scrubbing waste of the former. Furthermore, research by Audi showed that as tractive loads build up, the tire lossed of two wheel drive exceeded the losses caused by the extra weight and intertia of a full time four wheel drive system. Tire losses were found to rise disproportionately with load. Consider the extreme case of the "burnout" or wheel spin scenario, where 100% of the tractive energy is converted to burning rubber rather than propelling the vehicle.

The chart on the next two pages is a distillation of those features and technical facts wherein there is a meaningfull difference between the S4 and BMW M3. The question for discussion is, what do these differences say to us about the S4 and its M3 AND C$# AMG competitor.

Now, before you guys yell at me about the counter, I apologize. I know this is taking up valuable bandwidth but I am very interested to know exactly how many people are reading my posts. This may seem a little arrogant and, indeed, it is - quite so, but I hope that others will be interested to see this information too. Sorry again - I apologize profusely for the waste of valuable time.
