Default So far I have tried unbolting the larger driver side coolant pipe from the block...

but I can't get it to come out. I need to get it out of the way so I can work on the lower one. Can anyone tell me how to get this one out? It bends and heads down between the front plastic cam shroud and the drivers side head. You can see it in the second to last pic, it is the one with the bolt coming out of it with a rubber tube attached.

Default Would you have enough access to the lower pipe if...

you removed the hose that's attached to the top pipe? You just need to pull it out far enough to slip a new o-ring onto it.

It's been quite a while since I've done this job on my old A4, so I don't recall if I ever removed this upper pipe (or even if the configuration is the same on the 2.8 as the 2.7). If you're still struggling, I can look up the procedure in Bentley later tonight. Though in my experience with Bentley it will say "Remove upper coolant pipe."
