Default Meet Rusty, my turd box S4

Hello Everyone I've been on these forums a while and i've owned a few audi's.
91 90 20v-sold
98 a8 4.2-sold
93 urs4-sold
98.5 avant-selling
98 a4q tdi sedan-pending new owner but still could be for sale.

And now I just picked up an 2 owner s4. The woman I bought it off of absolutely loved the car. She replaced it with a 2015 and told me she'd rather have a nice s4 again lol. Now the body is ROUGH and I mean ROUGH but other things were right and it's never been modified. It has 200k exactly on it right now and she owned it since 35k.

If you look at the pictures it's easy to tell the body is Crap, to be fair though it's from Cleveland and they apparently have some of the worst roads.

My plan for the car is to catch it up on maintenance like spider hose kit, 710n diverter valves, blau parts valve cover gaskets and cam followers, 6 or 5 spd 01e conversion, 2.0t coil conversion, and replace most body panels and fix small things here and there. (i know that everyone here is screaming part it out, but I just don't have that in me) Car needs a MAF also and i'm probably just going to go Hitachi unless the rs4 bosch would be worth it? Any thought?

Once the car is up and running stage one I will acquire 2nd engine and build that up outside the car. I am thinking k24 or tials time will tell. But honestly I really like the idea of single turbo (1.5-2yr goal) and which point i will decide to move on with this body or swap my stuff into cleaner shell.

While i've got your attention is there anything to look for and replace that is common failure?

Here's some pictures I snapped today:

The 98 right beside the s4 has literally a perfect rust free shell, outside, underneath etc. Also looks really good in summer mode.

Rusty does seem like a proper name for this example! But it may be a good base! Good luck!
