Default More bull**** w/ my driveshaft, need AWers wisdom to help me

So i had a buddy replace my center support bearing and while the drive shaft was off the car and apart, he told me that the coupling where the drive shaft goes into the rear differential is loose and allowing the drive shaft to wobble and have excessive play. This would explain the knocking sound I have been experiencing when I lift my foot off the throttle, the drive shaft is probably loose and knocking against exhaust shield or something. Anyways, I need your guys help identifying the part I need. The guy who did the work usually works on old muscle cars, races them, ect. so hes not really Audi savy if you know what I mean, Hences where the lovely group of AWers come into play. Is this the CV joint or maybe my rear differential mount??

All the parts I listed above are just possibilities from what I have gathered searching 034motorsports and other websites.

HELP!!! & thanks in advance

Default Center driveshaft has a CV joint at each end

I am buying a completely rebuilt axle from raxles.com or getting the rebuild kit from blauparts next week. Doesn't Bentley show a diagram of the axle?

Default Well my driveshaft isn't going, its just some of the components that are part of it

are starting to and I am just trying to determine what part my buddy is talking about so I can order a new part. I don't feel its necessary to buy a rebuilt driveshaft if the one I have now is fine. Hopefully it is the CV joint.

Default yes, here's a diagram and all of my pictures installing a new driveshaft

Here's mcmaster-carr driveshaft bolts. Much cheaper than oem and same grade, etc.

If you find the picture of my driveshaft cv joint gaskets, it's an old part number. Check with the dealer for a revised pn that's also much cheaper. I paid $20+/ea while the revised pn is only $7/ea.

FYI, I believe the driveshaft has a different pn for tiptronics.

here's all of my driveshaft pictures

Default FANTASTICO!

There is NOT much info on doing this job, so this is a great help. Where did your driveshaft come from and what did you pay?

Can you tell me what the symptoms were that caused you to change the shaft? Want to compare w/ mine.
