My Oil Temperature Gauge is not working - Help!
<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/119115/oil_temp_sen_19_-otsender.jpg"></center><p>(Here is where the Oil Temp Sensor is supposed to be - #19)
Sometimes the gauge works and some time it does not. I already did the VAG test to make sure the gauge is responding and it passed. So it must be the oil temperate sensor or the wiring (This is what I found from searching). Anyone else run into this? How do I test the wires? How hard was the sensor swap?

yes... there are about 10 of us in a group email updating eachother... read on
basically, you probably have a 2000 right? If so, do NOT buy the ECS replacement part from Febi, it doesnt work, I replaced mine, never works, it shows the temp then falls and doesnt read it until i cycle the power.
you need to buy the OEM manufactured part, HELLA. here is a link to it. buy this one and you should be good. i plan on doing so next oil change!<ul><li><a href="http://www.performance-cafe.com/product_info.php?products_id=1630">http://www.performance-cafe.com/product_info.php?products_id=1630</a</li></ul>

That's the one. Testing the wires would require checking continuity between the connector at the
sensor and the pins at the ECU or interior harness connections.
If the wires look ok physically at the sensor, I would start by replacing the sensor and see if that fixes your issue.

I found the OEM part in my attic, typed it in google and PerCafe sells it...
the hella unit. So im doing my oil change within the next month and that is going in and i will report back. I am very confident the OEM Hella unit will do the trick not the FEBI crapole!
