I am working on a new-to-me 2000 S4 B5.

I found this wire/broken device hanging in the engine compartment near the power steering reservoir:




The two pin connector looks like this:




and the remains of the device looks like this:






Does anyone know what this device was?

This turns out to be the remains of the hood latch switch. The PO broke it and just tied it up in the engine compartment.
