Need advice on fixing faulty ambient temp sensor

This thread was brilliant! Especially posts #15 and #16. I managed to replace my sensor that way, took about 45 minutes when all was said and done. Was sort of painful to reach up back there, but better than any other approach. I wouldn't recommend it if you have a bad back or neck as you have to be in a very awkward position to get it done.
