ok, got another question. metal hitting metal sounds from rear suspension
#12
i have shaken it a bunch and hit it but couldnt remake the sound that way. I think it is suspension:
because the sound only happens with shock to the rear driver side wheel. I tested the theory by going diagonally over a speed bump and when that tire hit, i heard the rattling. the sound is also most audible from that side of the car tested that by putting the windows down and having friend A stick his head out the window while i hit bumps haha

Check the little retaining clips on the brakes. I had a jingling / metal to metal sound for a while
that would happen when going over bumps...turns out one of the retaining clips on my right rear was a little loose. If you STFA, you'll see that several people have had a similar sound, and this was the cause. It's especially likely if you recently did brake work.

example from archives

the upper bolt that holds the strut assembly into the housing, tighten that bolt.
i believe its a 18mm bolt and the nut might be 19mm. Have you ever or recently had suspension work done?

i found it. the axle on the rear driver side is about 4mm from the control arm. continued.....
and there is defintly signs of the axle hitting the control arm. the passenger side has about an inch of space. so does this mean alignment...? or something else. and to answer that question, no suspension work but i did get both rear wheel bearings replaced a couple months ago. i put some tape on the control arm to mmuffle the clinking until i can get it fixed. does this mean alignment or something else? is it DIY?
